Telangana women rowers shine at ASMITA Women’s League Rowing Championship
Telangana women rowers excelled at the ASMITA Women’s League Rowing Championship in Gorakhpur, winning medals across categories. The team clinched the Sub-Junior Overall Championship Trophy, earning recognition as the “Hyderabad Queens” and bringing pride to the state with their stellar performance
Hyderabad: Telangana women rowers delivered an outstanding performance at the ASMITA Women’s League Rowing Championship held in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, from May 12 to 16, 2026, winning multiple medals and bringing laurels to the state.
The Telangana team emerged as the Overall Champions in the Sub-Junior category, showcasing remarkable talent and dominance in the competition.
In the U-15 Girls Pair event, the duo of K. Lavanya and S. Devendramma won the gold medal.
In the U-15 Girls Double Sculls event, A. Varshita and Che. Dhatri secured the bronze medal.
In the U-15 Girls Four event, the team comprising M. Nithya, Niharika, Umamaheshwari, and R. Taruni clinched the silver medal.
In the Lightweight Women’s Double Sculls event, Manusha and Diksha won the silver medal.
In the Women’s Pair event, Sangeeta and Naina bagged the gold medal.
In the U-19 Women’s Double Sculls event, Roshibina Devi and Swevia Haisnam secured the gold medal.
With these impressive performances, Telangana won the U-15 Overall Championship and earned special recognition as the “Hyderabad Queens.” The state also secured the prestigious Sub-Junior Overall Championship Trophy.
The closing ceremony of the championship was attended by Gorakhpur MP and noted actor Ravi Kishan, who presented medals to the winners.
Telangana Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari, State Government Sports Advisor A.P. Jithender Reddy, Sports Authority Chairman Shiv Sena Reddy, Managing Director Dr. Sonibala Devi, and Telangana Rowing Association President A.P. Mithun Reddy congratulated the medal-winning rowers for bringing pride and recognition to Telangana at the national level.
Special appreciation was also extended to Association Secretary and Dronacharya Awardee Ismail Baig, for his contribution to the team’s success.
