Hyderabad: The Women Safety Wing of the Telangana police organized a meeting with different voluntary organization and government departments regarding the Pan India Rescue and Rehabilitation of Child Labour.

Shikha Goel, Director General, Women Safety Wing said as per the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) directives, Women Safety Wing has started a special campaign on October 21, on rescue and rehabilitation and it would continue till November 20.

Shikha Goel emphasised on the need to do proper follow-up actions concerning rescued children from various operations done in the past. She stressed the need to establish a single portal for all stakeholders to facilitate effective monitoring of these post-rescue follow-up. Officials were instructed on regularly updating and revising data related to hotspots and to ensure a robust mechanism for frequent monitoring of previously registered cases and their current status.

Shikha Goel highlighted that through the dedicated efforts of the state’s Anti-Human Trafficking Units (AHTUs), thousands of children have been rescued from hazardous and exploitative circumstances, an achievement that garnered national recognition and inspired similar initiatives in other states.

The Pan-India Rescue and Rehabilitation campaign will focus on rescuing children and adolescents engaged in different labour prone areas in the districts including small and big establishments such as factories, dhabas, industries, hotels, shops, organized and unorganized sectors such as mines, brick kilns and construction sites. Rehabilitation of children will be ensured as per the Juvenile Justice Act 2015 and The Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act, 1986.
