Hyderabad: Telangana is sending its largest-ever contingent of 11 sailors to the 21st Langkawi International Regatta in Malaysia.

Leading the senior category in the 470 Mixed Class is Preethi Kongara, fresh from a bronze at the Senior Nationals in Mumbai, with crew Chakali Karthik from Jogulamba Gadwal.

In the junior category, Marredpally’s Vaishnavi Veeravamsham will skipper the 420 Mixed Class alongside crew Sravan Kathravath from Brahmanapally, Nalgonda. The duo is currently ranked No.1 in India.

Among sub-juniors, India’s top-ranked Rizwan Mohammad from Patigadda and Lahiri Komaravelly from Rasoolpura are strong contenders. Telangana’s top seeds—Vinod Dandu, Chandralekha, Bhanu Chandra, Ravi Kumar and Badrinath Nirudu—will also compete. Most of these young sailors are supported by The Yacht Club of Hyderabad through its CSR program for underprivileged children.
