Telangana’s Aarush clinches Asian School chess silver
He scored 7.5 points from nine games with seven wins and a draw.

Hyderabad: Telangana chess player Aarush Bathula won a silver medal in the Asian School Boys under-7 Online Chess Championship.
He scored 7.5 points from nine games with seven wins and a draw. The lone loss came against eventual champion Avirat Chauhan. Players from 25 Asian countries took part in the tournament. After suffering the loss in the fourth round, he defeated Iranian player Nazari Amir Abas in the next round and shared honours with Rahul Ramakrishnan in the sixth round.
He then won against Ghoreishiamiri Seyedkian of Iran, Rayan Rashid Mugdho of Bangladesh and Garcia Caleb Royce of Philippines in the next three rounds for the second place finish.
He secured 6th place in national Online Schools Under-7 Boys Chess Championship 2021 and qualified for the Asian Online Under-7 Boys Schools chess championship 2021. He also emerged champion of the 29th and 30th Telangana State Ranking Under-7 Boys chess Championship in February and March respectively.
