Hyderabad: The house-to-house fever surveys and special fever outpatient services being taken up across Telangana for the management of Covid third wave, has received appreciation from the union Health Minister, Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, according to health authorities here on Friday.
In a video conference on Covid third wave between Dr Mandaviya and Health Ministers of other Indian states including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar islands and Puducherry, the union Minister praised the concept of holding fever surveys and conducting widespread fever outpatient services in government hospitals.
A similar initiative of mass fever surveys to contain the impact of the third Covid wave would be taken up in other Indian states, Dr Mandaviya in the video conference, which was attended by State Health Minister, T Harish Rao and other senior health officials, is understood to have said.
Harish Rao, who attended the video conference from Khammam Collectorate, made a presentation on the measures taken up by Telangana government to contain Covid third wave. He broadly touched upon efforts to expedite the Covid vaccination drive and highlighted the concept of fever surveys and Covid outpatient services at all government hospitals.
During the interaction, Harish Rao once again reiterated the State government demand to include all citizens above 60 years for the precautionary or booster dose of Covid vaccine irrespective of their comorbidities and allow booster doses to all the citizens above 18 years of age.
He also urged the union Health Minister to expedite release of Rs. 248 crore under Emergency Covid Response Package (ECRP-II) and depute manpower across various paediatric ICU facilities that have been established in Telangana, as part of National Health Mission (NHM).
