Hyderabad: Telangana BJP leaders appear to have expedited the process of admitting former Health Minister Eatala Rajender into the party in the presence of senior leaders in New Delhi.
Though the former Minister did not disclose his future plans after he was dismissed from the State Cabinet, sources said that Rajender was in touch with the State BJP leaders to decide about his political future. A few days ago, Rajender met with the BJP leaders at a farmhouse belonging to a former MP on the city suburbs.
The sources said that BJP State president Bandi Sanjay Kumar reportedly briefed the political situation to the party national president JP Nadda. He is believed to have discussed the strategy to be adopted before welcoming Rajender into the party. As senior leaders in New Delhi are busy with the Covid-19 situation, the party leadership might fix a date soon for Rajender to join the party.
It is learnt that Sanjay along with other party leaders, including Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G Kishan Reddy, met Rajender at the farmhouse on the city suburbs. However, Reddy clarified that Rajender did not meet him but contacted him.
Sources said Rajender was exploring various possibilities, including setting up a new political party in the State, and had discussed the issue with other party leaders and intellectuals. But he appears to be keen on joining the BJP given the present political scenario in Telangana. Clarity on Rajender’s move to join the saffron party would emerge in a few days.
