Hyderabad: State athletes N Mayavathi and A Ravi Kiran have been selected to represent India in the upcoming 19th World School Athletic Championship-School Gymnasiade to be held in Normandy, France, from May 14 to 22.
Mayavathi will compete in 100m and 200m events while Ravi Kiran, a para athlete in T-35 category, will participate in 100m and javelin throw event. The students of Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) Sports Academy made it to the Indian team after clinching gold medals 65th SGFI National Open Selection trials held in Bhubaneswar on Monday.
Mayavathi won the top honour in 100m and 200m events while Ravi Kiran, a para athlete in T-35 category, bagged the yellow metal for 100m and javelin throw events in Bhubaneswar.
