Hyderabad: Second-seeded G Naishik Reddy of Telangana won the men’s singles title in the All India men’s tennis tournament in Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
Naishik shocked top-seeded Prasad Ingale of Maharashtra 7-6 (4), 6-4 in the final.
Earlier, in the quarterfinal, Naishik defeated Prabir Mukesh Chavda of Gujarat 6-2, 6-4. He then overcame third-seeded Mahadev Bangargi of Maharashtra 7-6 (5), 6-2 in the semifinal.
The Hyderabad player, who trains at Suresh Krishna Tennis Academy under Suresh Krishna and Kaza Vinayak and is mentored by former Olympian and Davis Cupper J Vishnuvardhan, put up an impressive show throughout the tournament without losing a set.
