Telangana’s Naishik Reddy, Prabir Chavda finish runners-up in Belagavi AITA tournament

Telangana’s Naishik Reddy Ganagama and Gujarat’sPrabir Chavda finished runners-up in the doubles event of the AITA men’s Rs 2-lakh tournament in Belagavi. The duo defeated the top seeds in the quarterfinal before losing to second seeds in the final.

Hyderabad: Naishik Reddy Ganagama of Telangana and his partner Prabir Chavda of Gujarat finished runners-up in the doubles event of the All India Tennis Association (AITA) men’s Rs 2-lakh prize-money tennis tournament in Belagavi, Karnataka.

In the final, they lost to the second-seeded pair of O Jayaprakash and Suraj Prabodh 3-6, 0-6.

Earlier, in the semifinal, Naishik and Prabir defeated Ayush Sharma and Aditya Mor 6-2, 6-1. In the quarterfinal, they stunned top seeds Jagmeet Singh and Lakshit Sood 7-6(5), 6-3, after defeating Soma Suhas and Kaushik Arunkumar 7-5, 6-2 in the pre-quarterfinal.

For the record, Naishik Reddy trains at Suresh Krishna Tennis Academy and is being mentored by former Olympian and Davis Cupper J Vishnuvardhan.
