Jangaon: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday said the per capita income of Telangana State will soon touch Rs 2.70 lakh from the existing Rs 2.37 lakh. “This will be much higher than the per capita income in Andhra Pradesh which was Rs 1.70 lakh,” he said.
Addressing a gathering of officials after inaugurating the new District Collectorate complex here, the Chief Minister said it was a matter of pride that such state-of-the-art complexes are being established in all the district headquarters. “In fact, many States don’t have such buildings and facilities in their State Secretariat,” he said.
He said Jangaon, which was once a drought-prone area, had witnessed marvellous development due to several initiatives including the irrigation facilities through the Devadula lift irrigation project.
“During the statehood movement, I was one day travelling to Warangal from Siddipet. When I was asked to stop at Bachhannapet mandal centre, I literally had tears in my eyes and wept due to the horrific drought conditions that forced youngsters to migrate to other places to eke out a living, leaving the elderly in the village. I was moved deeply by the plight of the region that was synonymous with drought,” he said, adding that the Jangaon district was now getting huge paddy harvest.
“Land prices in Jangaon have also shot up manifold. Once land was sold at Rs 2 lakh to Rs 3 lakh per acre, but now it is Rs 2 crore to Rs 3 crore along the highway. Even land in villages is priced anywhere between Rs 20 lakh to Rs 40 lakh on the roadside. This has happened due to several steps taken by us collectively,” he said and appreciated the employees for the growth of the State.
Referring to the creation of new districts, Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao said that the district had been divided after much deliberations with certain clear objectives, and opined that the creation of the new districts would usher in development in the remotest parts of the State.
On issues related to the zonal system and allotment of employees, Chandrashekhar Rao opined that they would be sorted out and directed the Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to take steps to provide special allowance to the employees working in the remote areas for the development of the State.
“These are minor issues. For the larger interest of the State which is permanent, we should resolve them and strive for the development of the State. The government and officials should work hand in hand,” he said and appealed to the employees to strive for the development of the State like in the past. “People from other States one day will talk of Telangana State as the richest employees,” he said and added that Telangana will witness incredible growth.
Earlier, the Chief Minister was welcomed with ‘Poorna Khumbha’ by the priests on his arrival at the newly-constructed complex. The Chief Minister unveiled the plaque after performing the traditional rituals. The three-storeyed complex was constructed at a cost of Rs 32 crore in 25 acres. Chandrashekhar Rao also inaugurated the TRS party district office at Yashwanthapur village.
