Hyderabad: Telugu celebrities starting with Nandamuri Balakrishna, Rana Daggubati and Jr NTR paid last respects to the mortal remains of Puneeth Rajkumar at Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday.
Balakrishna turned emotional seeing the mortal remains of the Sandalwood star and the teary-eyed Telugu star later hugged Puneeth’s brother Shivrajkumar to console him just before leaving the premises.
“I am pained that I lost a friend, brother. He used to attend all programmes that I invited him. He had donated his eyes. We have met many times at Lepakshi along with Shivrajkumar, his elder brother. He had entertained people as an artiste,” he said adding, “Puneeth will live eternally in our hearts.”
Meanwhile, actor-director Prabhudeva said that Puneeth was too young to die. Prabhudeva had choreographed Puneeth for various films. “A gem of a person. I recently shot a song for him. My father was in tears after hearing about the news of Puneeth’s death. He wondered whether it was true,” he added.
Around 1.30 pm, Jr NTR along with director Prashanth Neel arrived at the stadium and paid last respects to the mortal remains of Puneeth. Visibly upset, Jr NTR was seen consoling Shivarjkumar before leaving the place.
Star Puneeth will be cremated on Saturday evening here with full state honours. Puneeth, son of Kannada film legend Dr Rajkumar, passed away on Friday. His body has been kept at Kanteerava Stadium for his fans to pay their last respects.
