Telugu diaspora in Saudi Arabia among most vibrant in Gulf region: Indian Ambassador

Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Vipul praised the Telugu diaspora for its vibrant presence, social responsibility and efforts to preserve cultural identity. He was speaking at the annual Telugu Day organised by SATA in Riyadh, which featured traditional performances by children.

Riyadh: The Telugu diaspora living in Saudi Arabia is among the most vibrant and enthusiastic not only in the country but across the Gulf region, said Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Vipul.

Vipul, who had earlier served in Qatar and Dubai, also served in New Delhi, where he was looking after the Gulf region.

The ambassador was addressing the Telugu NRI community following the formal inauguration of the annual Telugu Day organised by SATA, a Telugu NRI organisation in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Wednesday.

The envoy hailed the Telugu diaspora for its social responsibility towards their compatriots and for preserving its cultural identity in a foreign country.

He also hailed the empowerment of Telugu women in SATA.

Vipul commended the Telugu NRI community in Saudi Arabia by quoting the famous Telugu poem, “Desamante Matti Kadhoy, Desamante Manushuloy”, in Telugu.

SATA leaders Ranjith Chetluri, Muzzamil Shaikh, Jani Basha, Sucharita, Chetana, Yaqub Khan, Yerrana, Satthi Babu, Nagaraju and others also spoke.

Playful and spirited performances by children dressed in traditional costumes reflected the vibrant cultural identity of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and thrilled the audience.
