Dubai: The ICC premises came alive on Wednesday evening as the results of the AKV (Andhra Kala Vedika) election 2025, a Telugu NRI community organisation, were declared, marking the end of a spirited and highly charged campaign among Telugu NRIs in gas-rich Qatar.
The panel backed by Gottipati Ramanaih registered a sweeping victory, securing 73 per cent of the total polled votes and winning all eleven seats. Usually a low-key affair, the elections for Andhra Kala Vedika in Qatar generated tremendous interest this time as several Telugu community groups formed alliances and contested from both sides for the first time. It was widely seen as a rehearsal for the upcoming Telugu Kala Samiti (TKS) elections.
Qatar is the only country in the Gulf region where several Indian community organisations, including the Telugu community associations, operate under the umbrella of the Indian Embassy.
