Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at the proposed PM Ekta Unity Mall site opposite Malakam Cheruvu at Raidurgam on Wednesday after police stopped BRS leaders from inspecting the construction site.

BRS MLCs Dasoju Sravan and Shambhipur Raju, along with other party leaders, were stopped by the police when they arrived at the site. The incident led to protests, with the leaders raising slogans against Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and his government.

Speaking to mediapersons, Sravan alleged that seven acres of land, valued at around Rs 1,700 crore, was being handed over to private developers without tenders or agreements. He accused the Chief Minister and his family of benefiting from the arrangement.

He stated that the Centre had sanctioned a Rs 200-crore interest-free loan for the project and the proposed mall would have 27 floors and 27 lakh square feet of built-up space. However, the State government would get only nine lakh square feet of the space, while private developers would control the remaining 18 lakh square feet.

The BRS MLC said no tender documents or construction agreements related to the project were available in the public domain and demanded that the government make them public. He also raised allegations concerning land allegedly given to a company linked to the Chief Minister’s brother Kondal Reddy and questioned the role of officials.

Sravan alleged that the BJP and the Congress government were acting in collusion over the project. He demanded that Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu cancel the tenders, and make the documents public.
