Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Kothur in Ranga Reddy district on Thursday after family members and relatives of a man who succumbed to injuries sustained in a road accident staged a protest, demanding justice.
Boggula Sai Goud, (22) who was critically injured in a road accident at Thimmapur on the Chegur road in Kothur mandal on Saturday night, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment on Thursday. Following his death, his family members and relatives alleged that police had failed to mention the name of the person who allegedly caused the accident in the FIR.
The family members attempted to stage a protest with Sai Goud’s body in front of the Kothur police station. They alleged that the person responsible for the accident was a minor and the son of a former MPP of Balanagar mandal.
Police stopped the protesters near the Peddamma Thanda road, leading to a heated argument between the two sides. Additional police personnel were deployed to prevent the situation from escalating.
The situation turned tense during the protest outside the Kothur police station. While police were attempting to control the protesters, the argument reportedly escalated, following which some persons allegedly pelted police personnel with stones.
C. Shirisha Raghavender, DCP, Shadnagar, said the minor boy who caused the accident had been named as an accused in the case on the day of the accident.
“There was some misunderstanding on the part of the family of the accident victim. We cleared it and shifted the body to a hospital for a postmortem examination. The situation was immediately brought under control,” the DCP said.
