Tension in Yadadri Bhongir after Congress, BJP workers clash

Tension prevailed in Yadadri Bhongir after Congress and BJP workers clashed following attacks on the MLA’s camp office and BJP district office. Police resorted to lathi-charge to control the situation, while BJP State president N Ramchander Rao was placed under house arrest.

Nalgonda: Tension prevailed in Yadadri Bhongir on Tuesday after Congress and BJP workers attacked each other, prompting police to resort to lathi-charge to disperse the party workers and bring the situation under control.

The trouble began when BJYM activists attacked the camp office of Yadadri Bhongir MLA K Anil Kumar Reddy in the town. They allegedly ransacked the furniture and smeared black paint on the images of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and the local MLA on the camp office name board.

In retaliation, Congress workers attacked the BJP district office. They pelted stones at the office and allegedly assaulted a few BJP workers. As workers from both parties clashed, police reached the spot and resorted to lathi-charge to disperse them.

The situation was brought under control after some time, bringing relief to local residents. The BJYM activists attacked the Congress MLA’s camp office in retaliation for the smearing of black paint on the BJP State office in Nampally by Congress leaders on Monday.

Meanwhile, BJP State president N Ramchander Rao was placed under house arrest and prevented from visiting Yadadri Bhongir and meeting party leaders. Taking to X, Rao alleged that democracy was under attack in Telangana.

“Twice within a week, the Congress government placed me under house arrest, first to prevent me from meeting protesting students and now to stop me from meeting Nalgonda district president,” Rao said.

He later warned Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, saying, “If you think repeated house arrests, twice in my case, can silence me, you are mistaken. You can never succeed.”

BJP national president Nitin Nabin spoke to Rao over the phone and enquired about the incidents. He also sought details of the leaders who had been arrested and is learnt to have directed the BJP State president to continue his fight against the Congress government.
