Hyderabad: Tension prevailed at Medipally village in Rangareddy after Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders were arrested by the police for violating prohibitory orders.
Former MLA Manchireddy Kishan Reddy had challenged the Congress MLA from Ibrahimpatnam Malreddy Ranga Reddy for an open debate on the pharma lands issue.
The BRS leaders had even organized a tent and chairs in the village for the debate. However, the local Congress leaders had removed the tent and chairs.
This triggered heated arguments between the BRS and Congress leaders. Charging that the Congress leaders were resorting to misuse of power, the BRS leaders insisted for a debate, according to reports.
In the process, former MLA Manchireddy Kishan Reddy’s son Manchireddy Prashanth Reddy was arrested by the police. Videos and images of the police arresting the BRS leaders are being shared on social media platforms.
The police had deployed teams at different places in the Ibrahimpatnam constituency to avoid any untoward incidents.
