Nalgonda: Mild tension prevailed at the Government General Hospital mortuary in Nalgonda on Thursday when leaders of Mahila Congress picked up an argument with Energy Minister G Jagdish Reddy who was present there to console the family of a woman who was raped and killed by two persons at Mushampally village.

While Jagdish Reddy was consoling the family members of the victim at the entrance gate of the mortuary, Mahila Congress leaders headed by their State president Sunitha Mogli questioned him about the steps taken by the government to punish the accused in the case. They alleged that a TRS Rajya Sabha member was protecting the accused in the case.

Reacting to the allegations, the Minister said it was a Congress MP who was in fact protecting the accused in the case.

A group of TRS Mahila wing members also rushed to the place and picked up an argument with Mahila Congress leaders. A scuffle took place between the two groups leading to tension.

When the Minister, speaking to the media, said the government would bring amendments to the laws for protection of women, Sunitha Mogli questioned him to clarify what amendments would be brought to the laws by the State government for the purpose. She also staged a sit-in when the police tried to forcibly take her away from the place.
