TG SAFE raids unlicensed medical shop in Musheerabad

Drug officials raided an allegedly unlicensed medical shop at Bakaram in Musheerabad on Friday and detected 32 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, antihypertensives, antifungal drugs, analgesics and expired medicines. Samples were lifted for analysis and further investigation will follow

Hyderabad: Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE), Drugs Wing officials, acting on credible information about the illegal sale of medicines, conducted a raid at Mahaveer Medicals in Bakaram, Musheerabad, on Friday. The shop was allegedly being operated without a valid drug licence.

According to TGDCA, Jayesh Arvind Jain was found running the medical shop without a valid drug licence. Drug inspectors detected unauthorised stocking of a large quantity of medicines for sale.

A total of 32 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, antihypertensives, antifungal drugs, analgesics and other medicines, as well as expired medicines, were found stocked for sale at the premises.

DCA officers lifted samples for analysis. Further investigation will be carried out and action taken as per law against the offenders, the TGDCA said in a statement.

Wholesalers and dealers who supply medicines to unlicensed shops are also liable for action under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act. Stringent action will be taken against wholesalers and dealers who fail to verify whether medical shops or wholesale dealers hold valid drug licences before supplying medicines to them, the statement said.

The Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE), Drugs Wing, issues drug licences for the stocking and sale of medicines in accordance with the provisions of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act.
