Hyderabad: The School Education Department on Sunday released a detailed schedule for the Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TG TET) in June 2026, which will be conducted from June 16 to 22. The exam will be held in 10 sessions, with shift I from 9 am to 11.30 am and shift II from 2 pm to 4.30 pm.

The TET Paper I will be conducted in both shifts on June 16, while Paper I and II (maths and science) will be held in shift I and II, respectively, on June 17. Similarly, Paper II (maths and science) is scheduled in both shifts on June 18. The Paper II social studies test is scheduled for June 19 in both shifts.

On June 22, the Paper II (maths, science and social studies) test in shift I and Paper I in Hindi, Kannada, Tamil, Urdu, Marathi and Sanskrit mediums will be conducted in shift II.

A detailed exam schedule is available on the website https://schooledu.telangana.gov.in. The TET comprises two papers. Paper I is held for applicants to get teaching eligibility for Classes I to V, while Paper II is for acquiring qualification to teach Classes VI to VIII.

This time, a total of 1,36,418 candidates applied for the TET. Of the total, 32,779 candidates applied for Paper I, 86,305 for Paper II and 17,334 for both papers. Among the applicants, 28,149 are government in-service teachers, with 13,714 men, 14,430 women and five transgender.

The Supreme Court in its verdict mandated all teachers, except those with less than five years of service, clear the TET within two years to retain their jobs. Teachers with less than five years of service must pass the TET to become eligible for promotion. However, the court recently extended the TET qualifying period to three years, giving in-service teachers time to pass the test by August 31, 2028.
