TGDCA issues notices to 180 medical shops in special drug sale drive

Hyderabad: The Drugs Control Administration, Telangana (TGDCA) has issued show cause notices to 180 retail medical shops during a special drive taken up by inspection teams.
The DCA special drive was focused on curbing the indiscriminate sale of habit-forming drugs, abortion kits and antibiotics in retail medical shops.
The special drive was conducted with prime emphasis on verifying the sale of prescription medicines, including Schedule H and Schedule H1 drugs, and ensuring that retail medical shops dispense them only against a valid prescription issued by a Registered Medical Practitioner, the DCA said in a statement.
Two held with 500 grams Alprazolam in Nizamabad
Hyderabad: The EAGLE Force of Telangana Police on Wednesday caught two persons at Armoor in Nizamabad and seized 500 grams of Alprazolam from them.
The arrested are Ravutla Ramagoud (34), a realtor, and Mosampally Ashok Goud (46), a toddy businessman, while their associate Ravutla Prashanth Goud (40) is absconding.
According to the police, Prashanth Goud was supplying the Alprazolam to toddy compounds after sourcing it from different places. On specific information, the 500 grams of Alprazolam was seized from his house at Mahalakshmi Colony in Armoor.
