TGSRTC hired bus drivers stage protest in Telangana’s Karimnagar
Though they were not consuming liquor, a high percentage of alcohol was being shown in breathalyser tests. However, zero percentage was being shown if they undergo a breathalyser test in traffic police stations, say RTC drivers
KARIMNAGAR: TGSRTC hired bus drivers staged a protest in Karimnagar bus stand on Saturday, alleging harassment by corporation officials in the name of breathalyser tests.
Though they were not consuming liquor, a high percentage of alcohol was being shown in breathalyser tests. However, zero percentage was being shown if they undergo a breathalyser test in traffic police stations, they said.
One of their colleagues Suresh was also removed from the duties six months ago. Stating that RTC officials were deliberately harassing hired bus drivers, drivers informed that they would meet corporation MD VC Sajjanar.
It may be recalled here that Suresh made a suicide attempt by dousing himself with petrol in front Karimnagar depot-1 on Friday. Alerted security personnel foiled his attempt by pouring water.
Suresh, who was removed from duties in September 2024 as high per cent of alcohol was found in breathalyser test, has not been taken into duty despite his repeated request. Vexed over officials’ attitude, he made the suicide attempt.
