Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is planning to introduce a new Pushpak luxury air-conditioned bus service connecting Patancheru with the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport at Shamshabad.
The proposed service, expected to be launched in the coming months, aims to improve airport connectivity for residents of western Hyderabad, particularly IT professionals and people living in rapidly developing residential and commercial areas.
According to TGSRTC authorities, the planned route will cover several important localities, including Lingampally, Nallagandla, Gopanpally, Gowlidoddi, the Financial District, Kokapet and Narsingi. From Narsingi, the buses are expected to reach the airport through the Outer Ring Road (ORR), providing connectivity between major employment hubs, residential neighbourhoods and the international airport.
The proposed service is expected to offer considerable relief to passengers who currently depend on private taxis and other transport options to reach the airport.
Private cab operators reportedly charge between Rs 1,300 and Rs 1,800 for airport trips from Patancheru and surrounding areas, particularly during peak hours and late at night.
RTC officials expect the Pushpak service to provide a more economical alternative for individual passengers as well as families travelling together.
According to the proposed plan, dedicated luxury buses may be deployed for the new route. TGSRTC is already operating a fleet of 55 Pushpak buses on existing airport routes, making the deployment of additional buses necessary to accommodate the proposed expansion without affecting current services.
The new connectivity is expected to benefit frequent flyers, business travellers and residents who need to catch early-morning or late-night flights. It could also reduce dependence on private vehicles and make airport travel more convenient for people living in the western corridor of the city.
With residential communities and IT establishments expanding rapidly across the Patancheru–Financial District belt, the proposed service is expected to address the growing demand for reliable public transport to the airport.
However, the final launch date, bus frequency, boarding points and ticket fares are yet to be announced by TGSRTC authorities.
