Hyderabad: The TGSRTC’s Greater Hyderabad region authorities are planning a major expansion of its bus infrastructure, with Uppal reportedly set to get a new bus terminal amid the growing number of electric buses and rapid expansion of the city’s suburbs.

The RTC plans to remove the existing district bus parking facility at Nalla Cheruvu near the Peerzadiguda Kaman and develop a modern terminal at the Uppal workshop premises.

An official announcement on the project is expected. The corporation is also planning new bus terminals at Gajularamaram and Bahadurpura to cater to increasing passenger demand.

Meanwhile, new depots are proposed at Musheerabad and Jawaharnagar. Also, a 4.5-acre site at Musheerabad has been identified for Hyderabad-3 Depot, while another 4.5-acre site on Nagaram Road is proposed for the Jawaharnagar Depot.

Further, the RTC has also decided to revive the Ranigunj-2 Depot, which was closed earlier, with modern facilities.

Currently, the Greater Hyderabad region has 26 bus depots. The RTC aims to increase this number to 31, with officials seeking suitable land from the Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri district administrations for new depots in suburban areas for the convenience of commuters.
