TGSRTC resumes bus services to Agri university after six-year gap
The TGSRTC has resumed bus services to Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University, ending a six-year disruption that affected students, faculty, and farmers. The decision follows a six-month traffic survey.
Hyderabad: In a major relief to students, farmers and faculty, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) restored bus services to Professor Jayashankar Telangana Agricultural University (PJTAU) here on Wednesday.
After a traffic survey was conducted by the RTC over the past six months, the authorities decided to restore the bus services, which were abruptly stopped in 2019. This had caused inconvenience to the faculty, staff, students, and farmers who used to commute to the university.
PJTAU Vice-Chancellor Prof Aldas Janaiah expressed his gratitude to the RTC authorities, including the former VC and MD, Sajjanar, and the current VC and MD, Y Nagi Reddy for restoring the bus services. He noted that the bus service would benefit the students, staff, and farmers, especially the female staff and students.
The VC requested the RTC to extend bus services to other colleges and research institutions under the university’s jurisdiction in the State, which would facilitate the commuting of students, staff, and farmers.
