TGSRTC to launch night bus services on six routes

The TGSRTC will introduce dedicated night bus services on six major routes from August 29, operating broadly between 10 pm and 5 am. The services aim to help IT employees, students and other late-night commuters with affordable public transport.

Hyderabad: In a move aimed at improving late-night public transport in the capital region, the TGSRTC is set to introduce dedicated night bus services on six major routes from August 29.

The services are expected to help commuters travelling during late-night hours, particularly IT employees, hospitality sector workers, students and others whose work schedules extend beyond regular public transport timings.

According to the RTC authorities, these night services will operate broadly between 10 pm and 5 am, with buses planned at intervals ranging from 30 minutes to one hour, depending on passenger demand.

The routes identified for the night services include 10H between Secunderabad and Hitec City via Kondapur, 290U between Secunderabad and Hayathnagar, Koti -Patancheru, 222A between Koti and Patancheru via Hitec City, 219 between Secunderabad and Patancheru, and 195W operating in Bachupally and surrounding areas.

According to the plan, around eight buses will be deployed on each route initially. Further, the corporation is expected to monitor passenger response and modify the frequency based on demand.

The introduction of night services is expected to benefit employees working in IT and commercial hubs. Late-night commuters often have to depend on private vehicles, cabs and other modes of transport due to limited public bus availability after regular operating hours. The new services are expected to provide a more affordable public transport option for such passengers.

TGSRTC officials said they will assess the response after the launch and make operational changes, including increasing or reducing the number of buses and adjusting timings on routes depending on passenger demand.
