Hyderabad: To meet the high demand during Dasara festival, Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) on Monday announced that it will operate as many as 6,000 special buses during this year’s Dasara festival.

These special buses will be available for passengers from October 1 to 15 and advance reservation facility has been provided in them.

The management has further decided to run special buses from Hyderabad suburbs during the festive time to reduce the time loss of passengers due to traffic congestion.

Special services will be made available from MGBS, JBS, LB Nagar, Uppal, Aramghar, Santoshnagar, KPHB and other places for those planning to travel to their native places.

For the convenience of IT Corridor employees, RTC has planned to run buses to Vijayawada, Bengaluru and other places via Gachibowli ORR.

TGSRTC Managing Director VC Sajjanar held a virtual meeting with field level officials on special buses for Dasara and facilities to be provided to passengers in congested areas.

“The efforts of the RTC employees in taking passengers safely to their destinations are commendable. Compared to the last Dasara, this time there is a possibility of more traffic due to the implementation of ‘Mahalakshmi scheme’,” Sajjanar said.

The special buses will run from Hyderabad and Secunderabad to all parts of Telangana State, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

“As Dasara is on October 12, there is chance that there will be more passenger traffic on the 9, 10and 11, and more special buses should run as per the need. We will talk to the NHAI officials and take steps to allocate special lanes for RTC buses at the toll plazas,” Sajjanar said.

This year, RTC officials are planning to use electric buses on Karimnagar and Nizamabad routes. They are also coordinating with the police, transport and municipal authorities for hassle free travel.
