Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation’s (TGSRTC) unions have issued a strike notice to the state government on Thursday.
The state Joint Action Committee (JAC) leaders met TGSRTC Executive Director Venkanna and submitted a notice in this regard at Bus Bhavan in the evening.
The union leaders have expressed dissatisfaction with the Indian National Congress government’s inaction on key promises made to RTC employees.
The leaders highlighted unfulfilled commitments, including the merger of RTC into the government, the removal of restrictions on trade unions and the implementation of wage revisions pending since 2021.
They alleged that the state government has been neglecting these issues despite being in power for over two years.
The JAC leaders also criticised the government for allegedly conspiring to privatise RTC, warning that such moves could put thousands of jobs at risk.
They demanded that the government prioritise environmental sustainability by purchasing electric buses for RTC instead of relying on private operators.
They also called for parity in salaries with government employees.
