Hyderabad: The BRS lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI), accusing Congress candidate V Naveen Yadav of violating the Model Code of Conduct by allegedly threatening to eliminate BRS cadre within a week. Naveen Yadav made the remarks while speaking to the media during his Jubilee Hills byelection campaign.
The delegation comprising BRS leaders Palle Ravikumar, K Kishore Goud, Ramachandru Naik and Upendrachari demanded immediate action, stating that such statements amounted to intimidation and were unconstitutional during an ongoing election.
Speaking at BRK Bhavan after lodging the complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana on Thursday, BRS leader Palle Ravikumar said the remarks were tantamount to a threat and urged the ECI to act swiftly to ensure free and fair voting. Kishore Goud called for Naveen Yadav’s disqualification, describing his conduct as unfit for a democratic contest.
The BRS leaders said the CEO assured them that the matter would be probed and that a notice would be issued to Naveen Yadav seeking an explanation for his alleged remarks.
