Hyderabad: The rift between Youth Congress president Shivcharan Reddy and Yadagirigutta Devasthanam Trust Board member Eshwaramma Yadav’s groups failed to die down.
Tension prevailed at Mansoorabad and LB Nagar after Eshwaramma Yadav’s followers allegedly attacked Shivcharan Reddy’s house. Her supporters reportedly pelted stones at the Youth Congress president’s residence and damaged windows and glass panes on Monday.
Tension escalated after the two groups allegedly tried to attack each other with sticks. Sensing trouble, the police reached the localities and dispersed the groups.
The incident followed the Youth Congress president’s strong objection to the omission of his father Jakkidi Prabhakar Reddy’s photographs from the flex banners put up in connection with Eshwaramma taking oath as a temple trust board member.
He allegedly abused Eshwaramma’s grandson Suresh Yadav and warned that the flex banners would be damaged. The entire episode took a caste politics turn, with BC Congress leaders condemning the Youth Congress president’s alleged high-handed behaviour and attitude.
