Hyderabad: Big fat weddings became small and intimate affairs in 2020, and there are many people who will always remain thankful for that trend. However, it looks like there’s already another wedding trend that’s becoming popular in 2021 — that of secret weddings.
How often are you hearing your friends or cousins suddenly announcing that they have taken the plunge? No? Then, you would have at least heard of celebrities tying the knot secretly over the past few weeks.
Actor Pranitha Subhash recently got married to businessman Nitin Raju. She wrote on Instagram, “We are extremely sorry to not have informed you about the finalised date as up until the day before the wedding we were unsure about when the wedding will take place due to the current Covid restrictions.”
Be it the uncertainty of the current situation or the need for extreme privacy, there has definitely been a rise in secret weddings.
Actor Yami Gautam and filmmaker Aditya Dhar, too, surprised fans by announcing that they have tied the knot. The couple shared some stunning snaps from their wedding on Instagram.
Back in Hollywood, we saw pop star Ariana Grande pull off a secret wedding. The Thank U, Next singer married real estate broker Dalton Gomez a few weeks ago after being engaged to him for half a year.
On the other hand, it’s only been a few days since actor Evelyn Sharma announced on Instagram that she married Australian dental surgeon Tushaan Bhindi last month. Apparently, the couple said ‘I dos’ in a secret ceremony in Canberra.
Even the UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson caught up with the trend! He married fiancee Carrie Symonds in a wedding carried out in secrecy at Westminster Cathedral in London. The couple is planning to celebrate together with friends and family next summer.
