Hyderabad: Thieves broke in a temple in KPHB colony and decamped with cash from the collection box, 11 kilos of silver ornaments and other valuables in the early hours of Tuesday. The suspects disconnected the wires of CCTV cameras on the temple premises and damaged them.
According to the KPHB police, it was suspected that after 3 am, the thieves entered the compound and using tools, broke open the collection box placed in front of the deity and stole cash. They stole the silver ornaments from the sanctum sanctorum by breaking open its door. Temple authorities who noticed the cash and jewelry missing in the morning alerted the cops. “They damaged the CCTV cameras. We suspect it to be the work of local gangs,” police said. Based on a complaint from the temple authorities, a case was booked and is being investigated.
