This 19-year-old takes up food delivery job to support her family
Mamidipelly Rachana has taken up a job as Zomato’s food delivery executive to support her studies and parents, who are daily wage workers from Hanamkonda of Warangal district.
Meet Mamidipelly Rachana from Hyderabad, who has taken up a job as Zomato’s food delivery executive to support her studies and parents. The 19-year-old is a daughter of daily wage laborers from Hanamkonda of Warangal district.
She moved to the city to pursue her studies in Hotel Management after studying in a government school till class 12 for free in her hometown.
“I wanted to help my family financially, bear the expenses of my exams and other expenditures. I started working in a milk shop where I earn very little. After paying Rs 3,000 as my room rent and sending money back home, only Rs 1,000 used to be left to buy groceries,” says Rachana, who later took up a job as a food delivery executive.
“I wake up at 4:00 am to deliver milk door-to-door. Then I attend my online classes. At 5:00 pm, I start working for Zomato and go on till 11 in in the night,” she adds.
At first, this Tarnaka resident used to use the bike of the milk shop owner, without his notice, to deliver food orders. This until Imran Khan, a good samaritan who runs YouTube channel Pareshaan Boys, gifted her Activa and provided monetary assistance of Rs 10,000.
She now delivers at least 15 orders a day and earns Rs 500 a day. Rachana says all she wants is her parents to have a better life and pursue her dream career in hotel management.
