Mahabubabad: Residents of Thorrur town are excited over the development of Nemargommula Yathiraja Rao Park in the town to provide lung space for the locals. While Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao got Rs 20 crore sanctioned for the development of Thorrur Municipality from the Telangana Urban Finance Infrastructure Development Corporation (TUFIDC), the park was developed at a cost of Rs 2 crore from that fund.
“With a view to provide lung space for the people of Thorrur, we developed the park in 14 acre. As per my knowledge, no other small town like Thorrur in the State has got this kind of beautiful park with several facilities. We must thank Dayakar Rao for his initiative to develop the town,” Thorrur Municipal Chairman Mangalampally Ramchandraiah told Telangana Today.
The park has special attractions for kids with several play equipment set up in the park. “We developed the park on the lines of parks developed in metro cities. We set up a gazebo, open gym, walking track, water fountain and also beautiful landscape dotted with 85 varieties of flower, medicinal and ornamental plants including some exotic varieties brought from the Kadiyam nurseries of the East Godavari district,” said Municipal Commissioner Gunde Babu.
On the other hand, they have also developed the Panchatatva Park where the people can do the acupressure walk, which is based on five elements of nature. It is composed of eight components, including 20 mm stone, 10 mm stone, 6 mm chips, river stone, rough sand, tree bark, black soil and water.
Boating facility promised
“Walking is to be done barefoot, from very hard surface to smooth component, by which blood circulation will improve providing relief from various ailments, the statement informed. This also helps senior citizens and persons with joint pains who cannot walk for longer distances,” according to the officials. A statue of Lord Buddha was also installed at the park. Meanwhile, Minister Dayakar Rao has reportedly promised to take steps for the introduction of boating in the pond adjacent to the park.
“The long-cherished dream of the locals has been realised with the setting up of the park. We are gearing up for the inauguration of the park soon,” said Councillor M Natwar.
