Hyderabad: The City Police nabbed three persons on Monday for their alleged involvement in a debit card fraud case in the city. The police seized Rs 2.11 lakh and 23 debit cards from them.
The arrested persons were Mohd Iqbal (27), Ansari (31) and Mohd Salim (31), all natives of Mewat in Haryana. They were allegedly involved in four cases in the city.
City Police Commissioner Anjani Kumar said the gang members visited ATM centres and inserted ATM cards in the cash dispensing machine. Even as the transaction was on, another member would stick a pin or some other object even as they pulled out cash.
“The ATM then shows a technical error. As a policy, banks consider technical glitch as failed transaction and credits the amount in the bank account of the customer on getting a complaint from the account holder,” said Anjani Kumar.
The gang was involved in four cases registered at Nallakunta, Vanasthalipuram and Saidabad police station areas in the city. On specific information, the Commissioner’s Task Force (South) team and the Nallakunta police arrested them.
