Warangal Urban: Task Force police arrested three persons for allegedly selling Remdesivir vials in the black market at exorbitant prices on Wednesday, and seized 28 Remdesivir vials and Rs 20,000 cash from them.

The arrested were identified as Bagaji Manohar of Mandi Bazar of Warangal, Kulipaka Kumara Swamy of Bheemaram, and Aitha Ashok of Kareemabad in Warangal.

Disclosing the details of the arrested persons at a press conference here on Thursday, Warangal Police Commissioner Tarun Joshi said the Task Force team apprehended three pharmacists/assistant pharmacists at LifeLine Hospital, Hanamkonda, under the limits of Subedari PS after receiving credible information about black marketing of Remdesivir vials.

He said the accused purchased the Covifor from Hetero Drugs in Hyderabad at Rs 2,800 per vial. “While they are supposed to sell a vial at Rs 3,490 (MRP), taking undue advantage and inevitable situations of COVID-19 patients, they were selling each vial at Rs 35,000 to Rs 45,000,” he added. The arrested have been handed over to Subedari police for further action.

“A case has been registered under section 420 of IPC, 7 ECA, and 51(B) NDMA Act, and further action will be initiated based on the merits of investigation,” the CP added.
