Adilabad: Three persons were arrested for allegedly thrashing a 70-year-old woman on suspicion that she was practicing sorcery at Towerguda hamlet under Birsaipet village in Utnoor mandal on Thursday. Her condition is learned to be critical.
Utnoor Sub-Inspector Subbarao said the accused were Athram Narsing, Pendur Devsev and Kumram Maruti, all natives of Towerguda. The woman was Manku, a resident of the same hamlet.
Narsing, Devsev and Maruti assaulted the woman using stones resulting in serious injuries to her, suspecting that her sorcery was causing illness to their family members. They nursed a grudge against her for quite a long time. The woman was shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS)-Adilabad.
