Mahabubabad: The Task Force police and the Mahabubabad Town police have jointly conducted raids on the houses/shops of three people on Wednesday and seized Rs 9.59 lakh worth gutkha packets, said Additional SP (Crimes) Yogesh Gautam. Three accused, Chidurala Janardhan, Uppula Venkanna and Aitha Anil Kumar, have been arrested.
“The accused had been purchasing the Gutkha from people in Bidar of Karnataka, Surat of Gujarat and Yellandu of Khammam district and selling the same to the pan shops and small kirana shops at higher prices in Mahabubabad town for quite some time now,” the ASP said and appreciated Mahabubabad Town Inspector A Venkataratnam, Task Force SI T Rama Rao, Town SI Ravi and others policemen for nabbing the gukha sellers.
