Adilabad: Three persons were arrested on charges of attempting to extort Rs 50 lakh from a property owner by interfering in a land dispute in Mavala mandal centre on Tuesday. Two mobile phones were seized from their possession. Another accused person was absconding.

Mavala Station House Officer and trainee IPS officer Rahul Kanth, in a press statement, said that Bojja Ajay, Gangula Kiran and Pirangi Yogesh, all from the town, were apprehended for threatening and trying to extract Rs 50 lakh from a complainant, Rakesh Sharma, to settle a dispute over his land. Raj Siddharth, another accused person, was still large.

Bojja Ajay confessed to committing the offence by taking help from the three. He admitted to indulging in similar crimes in the past. He revealed that he interfered in the land dispute to occupy Sharma’s land. Police advised the public to approach police if anyone harasses people under the guise of resolving land disputes and demanding extortion and fees.
