Three-day music and dance festival Ramayana Kalpavrksam

Hyderabad: The third edition of the three-day music and dance festival, ‘Ramayana Kalpavrksam’, conceived and curated by noted Hyderabad based dancer Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayant, will be held between January 31 and February 2 at Centre for Cultural Resources and Training (CCRT) campus, Madhapur.
The festival is being presented by Shankarananda Kalakshetra and Natyarambha, in collaboration with Brhat. The annual festival is a three-day immersion into all things Rama through the prism of top class performances, of dance, music and Harikatha, by noted personalities, Dr Ananada Shankar Jayant said.
The festival highlight will include Carnatic duo Ranjani-Gayatri, premiering their musical feature, ‘RAMA by RaGa’; Vishaka Hari, will showcase ‘Ramayana: The Life-Giving Tree’; a presentation of Rukmini Devi Arundale’s iconic dance choreography, ‘Sabari Moksham,’ brought to life by the Kalakshetra Foundation; the rare and vibrant Manipuri Raas, Pung and Dhol Cholam, performed by the JN Manipuri Dance Academy, Imphal.
The festival will also feature learning workshops like ‘Kala Charan’: a Sanskrit Learning workshop by Udaya Shreyas of the Sanskrit Channel, a hands-on fabric painting session by Anusha Namburi, Cheriyal Painting by artist Madhu Merugoju. The fest will also have display of vintage lithographs from Pratima Sagar and MC Mohan.
