Hyderabad: A three-day online certificate programme on ‘Artificial Intelligence for Smart Policing’, jointly organised by NALSAR University of Law and Centre for Human Security Studies (CHSS), Hyderabad was inaugurated by D Gautam Sawang, Director General of Police, Andhra Pradesh, at NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, on Wednesday.
In his address, Sawang highlighted the importance of Artificial Intelligence and how efforts can be made to learn and understand the use of AI technology. He made a strong reference to the interface between Law, Technology and Academia and said the use of Artificial Intelligence should lead to Smart Policing. Sawang observed that Global Artificial Intelligence race was not in favour of India, when compared to China, the US and some of the western countries.
Prof. (Dr) V Balakista Reddy Registrar, NALSAR University of Law, Dr Ramesh Kanneganti, Founder and Executive Director, CHSS, and others participated in the inaugural.
The three-day certificate programme will cover topics such as the Role of Artificial Intelligence in crime prevention, crime investigation, security management, crowd management, disaster management, election management, cyber security, etc.
The programme is being attended by serving police officers from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Police. Paramilitary forces such as CRPF, CISF and BSF have taken greater participation besides regular police officers. Private security managers have also enrolled for the certificate programme, a press release added.
