Hyderabad: The North Zone Task Force nabbed three persons on charges of black marketing the generic versions of Remdesivir vials which are being used as an antiviral medicine for Covid-19 patients. Police seized 12 Remdesivir 100 mg injections.

The arrested persons were Shaik Saleem Jaffar (32), area business manager in Hetero Healthcare in Kukatpally and a resident of Balajinagar, B Venkatesh (27), field sales officer in Hetero Healthcare from Peerzadiguda and J Sharan Sai (26). Due to the pandemic situation, there is a huge demand for Remdesivir.

Police said Jaffar and Venkatesh contacted Sai, a medical representative who agreed to sell the drug in the black market for Rs 20,000 to customers and medical shops. On Monday, the trio illegally procured 12 Remdesivir vials from Hetero Healthcare and came to Begumpet, from where they were caught. They were handed over to the Begumpet police for further action.
