Hyderabad: Three persons were arrested on charges of black marketing of Remdesivir by the Rachakonda Special Operations Team along with the Medipally police at Boduppal here on Thursday night. Officials seized three vials from them.
The arrested were identified as B Ramachander, a lab technician from Warasiguda, K Karthik of Peerzadiguda and A Sreenaiah, a medical shop owner from Boduppal.
According to the police, following a tip-off that Remdesivir injections were being black marketed, the SOT with the help of a drug inspector, in a decoy operation caught the trio in possession of Remdesivir injections.
On interrogation, they confessed that Ramachander, who is a lab technician, is acquainted with medical representatives, and sometimes on the request of customers used to supply medicines and injections.
On Thursday, Ramachander received a call from Karthik who supplies masks and sanitizers to the medical shops asking for Remdesivir injections, to be further sold to Srinivas, who runs a medical shop.
“Ramachander demanded Rs 25,000 for a single dose and Srinivas sold it to Covid-19 patients for a whopping Rs 35,000,” said an official. They arrested were produced before the court for remanding in judicial custody.
