Hyderabad: Three persons who were allegedly smuggling ganja in high end cars were arrested by the Rachakonda Police Special Operations Team (LB Nagar) on Thursday. The team seized 140 kg of ganja, two cars and Rs.5 lakh from them.
The arrested persons were Shaik Yaseen alias Feroz (33), a cab driver from Nacharam, Chunchu Ravinder (29) of Yousufguda and Manda Babu (29) of Nacharam. Two others, Srinivas of Araku in Andhra Pradesh and Majid of Mumbai, were absconding.
According to Rachakonda Police Commissioner Mahesh M Bhagwat, the three arrested persons had purchased the ganga from one Srinivas in Lambasingi of Visakhapatnam for Rs.3,000 a kilogram. They planned to sell it for Rs.12,000 a kg to Majid.
“They purchased 140 kg, kept it in 70 packets and concealed in Toyota Innova vehicles. On information, the Special Operations Team along with Adibatla police caught them,” Bhagwat said.
