Babu, the owner of the vehicles, recently spoke to mediapersons and alleged that Ramesh, Anwar and the constable demanded Rs 1 lakh for releasing his vehicles. He accused them of forcing him to pay Rs 30,000 in cash and transfer Rs 20,000 to a wine shop owner through PhonePe. He claimed that he had to pay the bribe after paying fines to the government.

Subsequently, an inquiry was conducted into Babu’s allegations. The inquiry reportedly found that the Inspector, SI and constable had harassed the owner while seeking bribes. A report was submitted to higher officials, who cracked the whip against the erring police officials.
