Nalgonda: Three members of a family were killed and four others injured after the car they were travelling in rammed into a stationary lorry on Sagar-Hyderabad Highway near VT Colony in Mall village of Chinthapally mandal in Nalgonda district on Friday. The police suspect that the driver of the Toofan car, one of the deceased, is suspected to have dozed off behind the wheel, causing the accident. The deceased were identified as Pandula Ramulu (59), Pandula Sathiah (56) and Pandula Pandu (45), natives of Vaddipally village of Marriguda mandal in the district. While Ramulu and Sathaiah died on the spot, Pandu breathed his last while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Hyderabad.

Four other occupants of the MUV car, which was carrying 12 in total, were rushed to Hyderabad for treatment. They were returning to their village Vattipalli of Marriguda mandal after attending a function at the newly constructed house of Pandula Ravi, son of Ramachandru, a native of the same village, in Hyderabad.

According to Chinthapally Sub-Inspector Venkateshwar Reddy, the incident took place at 4 am. As the vehicle reached the Mall village, the car driver, who is suspected to have fallen asleep behind the wheel, rammed the lorry that was parked on the roadside at a petrol bunk near Godakondla village in Chintapally mandal. The condition of two of the injured is said to be critical. The Chinthapally police filed a case and took up the investigation into the matter.
