Three killed in separate road accidents in Hyderabad

Two auto‑rickshaw drivers were killed and another injured when a GHMC tipper lorry hit them while they were attempting to tow a broken‑down vehicle at Mandamallamma crossroads in Meerpet late Saturday night. In a separate accident at Gachibowli on Sunday morning, a pillion rider died and two others were injured after a motorbike rammed into a cyclist and crashed into a roadside wall.

Hyderabad: Two auto-rickshaw drivers died after a GHMC vehicle hit them at Mandamallamma crossroads in Meerpet on Saturday night.

According to the police, Sabavath Sunil (35), an auto driver from Adityanagar, Gurramguda, had parked his vehicle on the roadside of the Sagar Highway near Mandamallamma crossroads after it broke down around 2 am.


Sunil had called his relative Sabavath Prasad (26) to the location to tow the auto-rickshaw. Meanwhile, another auto driver Sabavath Santosh (35), from the Nandavanam area, on coming to know that Prasad was there, came to the spot to meet him.

“The trio were standing on the roadside and discussing how to tow away the auto-rickshaw, when a GHMC tipper lorry travelling at high speed rammed into Santosh, Sunil and Prasad, who were standing by the roadside,” said Meerpet Inspector, Shobhan.

Santhosh sustained severe injuries and died on the spot. Sunil, who was also injured, was taken to a private hospital in Hasthinapuram in a 108 ambulance but succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. Prasad is undergoing treatment.

The police identified the driver of the GHMC tipper lorry as Javala Suresh (38). A case was registered against the tipper driver and he was taken into custody.

 

Pillion rider dies in Gachibowli

In a separate incident, a pillion rider died and two others were injured in a fatal collision between a bicycle and motorbike at Gachibowli on Sunday morning.

According to the police, one person Arun (22) who works at a liquor store was going on a bike along with his friend Indrasena Reddy (25).

On reaching Rotary Circle, Nanakramguda, Arun rammed his motorbike into a 52-year-old cyclist, Mohammed Samiuddin.

Samiuddin fell on the road and Arun lost control over the bike and rammed into a wall on the roadside. Arun and Indrasena Reddy, suffered serious injuries and rushed to hospital. The doctors pronounced Indrasena Reddy dead on arrival. Arun and Samiuddin, are undergoing treatment. A case has been registered.
