Hyderabad: A three-member gang that was allegedly cheating public on the pretext of a lucky draw lottery was nabbed by the Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force (East) on Thursday. The police seized Rs 2.81 lakh and other articles from them.
Those caught were identified as G Dinesh (36), D Shiva (32) and S Mallikarjun (42), all residents of Madannapet.
According to the police, Dinesh and Shiva started a shop called SDJ Enterprises at Amberpet and with the help of Mallikarjun, lured the public to invest in a lottery being organised illegally. “The gang collected Rs 1,200 from each member every month and managed to enroll 800 persons on the pretext of lucky draws and gifts. At the end of the month, they held a draw and palmed off an electronic item to a few persons while the remaining were asked to come the following month,” DCP (Task Force) Gummi Chakravarthy said.
On information, the Task Force raided the office of SDJ Enterprises and nabbed them. The three were handed over to the Amberpet police for further action.
