Three minor communal incidents reported in Hyderabad

Three communal incidents disrupt city's peace on Sunday evening, including protests over derogatory posts, attacks on drivers and violent clashes, prompting police intervention

Hyderabad: The peaceful atmosphere in the city was marred by three minor communal incidents on Sunday evening.

At Musheerabad, a group of local people staged a protest in front of the police station over a derogatory social media post targeting a particular community.


Some local youngsters noticed a post on Instagram with distasteful content and assembled in front of the Musheerabad police station, demanding action against the person who had posted the content. On assurances from higher officials, the crowd dispersed from the spot after giving a representation to the police.

At Attapur in Rajendranagar, tension prevailed after some persons stopped a vehicle carrying cattle and attacked the driver. On hearing of this, the local people belonging to a particular community gathered in large numbers. Sensing the situation escalating and going out of control, the police higher-ups rushed in reinforcements to the spot. The police faced a tough time controlling two groups belonging to different communities.

In Jalpally, Pahadishareef, tense moments were witnessed after some persons stopped a vehicle carrying animal waste, attacked two people grievously, and burnt their vehicle. On information, the police reached the spot.

Meanwhile, members of the butchers’ community and cattle traders gathered in large numbers on the Jalpally road.

The police had barricaded the roads leading to Jalpally.
