Mancherial: Three more persons were arrested for their alleged role in the circulation of fake currency notes in Luxettipet on Wednesday evening. Fake currency notes with a face value of Rs 1.61 lakh and four mobile phones were seized from them.
Giving details of the arrests, Mancherial ACP R Prakash said that Kasarapu Kodand Rao from East Godavari district, Jujjuvarapu Rao of West Godavari and Errolla Srinivas Goud of Godavarikhani were arrested for circulating counterfeit currency notes of Rs 500 in Luxettipet town recently. The trio was absconding following the arrest of 12 others a month ago.
During interrogation, they confessed to committing the crime to make quick money by forming a gang. With this arrest, 15 persons were taken into custody for allegedly circulating fake currency notes of Rs 500 in Luxettipet town. Their act came to light when the owner of a filling station approached the police after one of them duped him by purchasing petrol using the notes.
On March 1, a dozen persons were already arrested on charges of circulating fake currency. Prakash commended Luxettipet Inspector Ramana Murthy and his team for their prompt action in arresting the three.
